Dave Blamy Head Coach

It is hard to imagine this will be my 8th Year Coaching the Marlins. I am so excited to be back and ready for a great season.

For those that do not know me, I am a proud father of 3 (one is still on the Marlins). I have been involved in swimming my entire life. I was an Age Group and Summer Swim league swimmer my throughout high school. At the Age of 12, I found the sport of water polo, played in High school earning First Team All American Honors. I went on to compete at Michigan State in the sport where I earned All Big Ten Honors. I have coached Age Group Swim, High School Swim, and of course, Summer Swim. I love coaching the Marlins, and providing to these kids the passion for the sport I grew up with. Some of my happiest childhood memories are from summer swim.

Swimming is the one sport there is a team component, but you are always swimming against your best self.

Lets Do This Marlins!!! Go Marlins!!

Nicolette Sauter Assistant Coach

Hi Marlins Families! I’m Coach Nikki and this is my third summer coaching the MillBridge Marlins. I absolutely love being apart of this amazing community team. There is something special about coaching right here at our neighborhood pool and seeing the swimmers grow in skill and confidence, watching teammates become friends, and cheering each other on in a fun, family-focused atmosphere. It is more than just a swim team, it is a summer full of memories, laughter and Marlin pride!

When I am not on the pool deck, you can find me at the beach, exploring new places, reading a good book, or hitting the gym. I am so excited for another awesome season with our Marlins Family!

Libby Boosalis Assistant Coach

Swimming has been my life for as long as I can remember! I moved to Millbridge specifically for the swim team. In fact, I picked our house based on how close it was to the pool, just because of how much I loved my twelve years on my summer swim team growing up. I rode my bike to practice every day and wanted my kids to have the same experience.  I love kids (especially my own two Marlins) and teaching fitness classes, so coaching is an absolute blessing of an opportunity for me. I swam through college and continue swimming to this day as a United States Masters Swimmer. I've done countless meets, probably at least one million flip turns, some triathlons, and several open water marathon swims. My favorite experience was the Swim Around Key West, after summer swim, of course! I've coached and taught swim lessons since I was a teenager--a long time ago!

Sabrina
Sabrina Flath Shrimp and Starfish Coach

Hi Marlins! My name is Sabrina Flath and this is my 8th year being apart of the Marlin family! I just finished my first year of college at Florida Gulf Coast University as a pre-nursing major. I’m so grateful to be apart of the amazing Marlin community. I love coaching because I get to watch all the swimmers development and conquer things by the end of the season that they thought were impossible at the beginning. The supporting and loving environment of the Marlins is something so special and I’m glad to be apart of it.

Hi Marlins! I am thrilled to be a part of the Marlins this year, but from the Pool Deck.

I was a Marlin from the moment the team began in 2014. I graduated last year, and I was planning to come back even if I was not asked. I will always love the MillBridge Marlins.

I was a year round swimmer at MSA and swam all 4 years on the Cutherbertson High School Swim and Dive Team. I am still swimming. I just finished my freshman year at The University of Marland, Baltimore County where I competed for the team this year.

My first year as a D1 Collegiate Athlete was different than I thought. I swam more than I ever have, but it was still fun and my teammates are great.

I love having COACH in front of my names and looking forward to contributing to the success of the team. Go Marlins!

Jen Bass Team Manager

Jen has been part of the Millbridge Marlins since 2015.  Jen has two MillBridge Marlins on the team. Jen does not come from a swimming background, but has found a passion for the sport. Jen is a journalist with NBC News.  Her job has allowed her to cover several of the Olympic Games which helped to realize this passion. She was one of the first journalists to chat with Michael Phelps after he broke the all time medal record during the summer games in Beijing. During the Tokyo Olympics, she also interviewed Katie Ledecky and Caleb Dressel several times after their wins and even had a great chat with Ryan Murphy about the importance of Summer Swim Leagues.   She is one of our loudest cheerleaders at the meets. She just loves watching these kids grow and become stronger in the pool.  Go Marlins!!

Derek
Derek Smith The Voice of the Marlins (aka:Announcer)

Hey Marlins families!

I’m so excited to be back with the Marlins for another amazing season in 2025. I've been part of sports teams pretty much since I could walk — and I kicked off my summer swim career way back in 1986 with the Franklin Farm Froggers. Over the years, I’ve seen just how much sports can build community and character, which is a big reason I jumped at the chance to be part of the MillBridge Marlins when the team first started.    Since day one in 2014, I’ve been the announcer — yep, that voice you hear at every meet — and I also serve on the Marlins Board of Directors and represent the team at the Greater Charlotte Swim League. It’s been such a joy to help kids discover a love for swimming and sports right here in our neighborhood. When I’m not cheering on the Marlins, I’m behind the mic for a few other teams too. I call play-by-play and color commentary for Davidson College women’s basketball on ESPN+, and I’m the PA announcer for Davidson football, Marvin Ridge High School football and basketball, and Charlotte Christian School’s women’s soccer. My daughter Abigail is wrapping up her final season with the Marlins — and fun fact: she’s the last original member still swimming! She’s headed off to Baylor University in Waco, Texas this fall, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Let’s make it a great season — Go Marlins!

I cheer for all, but Marlie and Harper have my heart!  My other passion is taking care of my dogs and horses.  I love all my babies!
